Transpennine Route Upgrade
The Big Rail Diversity Challenge
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a major, multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring better journeys to passengers travelling across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York. We’re transforming journeys across the North, better connecting towns and cities through more frequent, faster trains, running on a cleaner, greener and more reliable railway.
The TRU East Alliance takes part in The Big Rail Diversity Challenge every year because it’s the perfect mix of serious purpose and serious fun. It’s a brilliant way to step away from the day job, break down barriers, and bring people together from all walks of life — all while taking on some wild and wonderful challenges! Diversity isn’t just a buzzword for us; it’s what makes our teams stronger, smarter, and more creative. This event is a chance to celebrate that, to show that when different perspectives come together, great things happen (and we have a great time doing it!). Every year, we come away with fresh ideas, stronger connections, and a renewed energy to keep pushing for a more inclusive rail industry. Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of friendly competition in the name of making our sector better for everyone?
