Over the last decade, Stadler’s presence in the UK has grown dramatically. Transport for Wales is in the process of rolling out 35 FLIRTs and will soon introduce the 36 CITYLINKs it has ordered. Eighteen METRO trains for Glasgow Subway were brought in last year. Nexus is currently rolling out 46 METRO trains for the Tyne and Wear Metro. Fifty-eight new FLIRTs for the Greater Anglia network were delivered from 2018. The company will supply an initial batch of ten Class 93 tri-mode locomotives for Rail Operations UK, as well as 30 Class 99 bi-mode Co’Co’ locomotives to Beacon Rail and GB Railfreight.
Stadler Rail Service UK Limited is a subsidiary of Stadler Rail, providing full service contracts in Norwich, Liverpool and Newcastle. There are technical support and spares supply agreements in place in Cardiff and Glasgow. Four hundred people work for Stadler in the UK, in mainly skilled or highly skilled jobs.
