RSSB
The Big Rail Diversity Challenge
Helping our members to keep Britain moving with safer, smarter rail.
RSSB is the independent safety, standards and research body for Great Britain’s rail network, working with our members to build a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future.
At RSSB, we drive industry collaboration and innovation to solve complex challenges, ensuring new technology benefits everyone. This includes safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible operations, supporting both passenger and freight transport.
Our experts provide data-driven insights, develop essential standards, and conduct research across all areas of rail operations—from safety and wellbeing to customer satisfaction and performance—empowering the industry to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
For several years we have actively participated in the Women in Rail mentoring scheme, which aligns with our broader approach in promoting and celebrating diversity.
We embrace diversity and are committed to providing an equal, diverse, and inclusive workplace for all. Entering a team for The Big Rail Diversity Challenge and partnering with Women in Rail for this event allows us to further encourage our colleagues to participate and demonstrate our dedication to diversity. A core purpose of RSSB is to foster collaboration within the rail industry, making this event an excellent platform for cross-industry teams to network, socialise, and celebrate the rail sector's commitment to diversity. By entering a team, we have not only elevated the profile of diversity within our organisation but also embraced the challenge of assembling a gender-balanced team of dedicated volunteers. Additionally, it provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diverse talents and experiences of our workforce. This participation will further advance our internal diversity agenda and strengthen our efforts towards creating a more inclusive workplace.
