Colas Rail Ltd is part of the Colas Group and a subsidiary of Bouygues. This heritage gives the company a solid foundation based on a high level of expertise in rail operations, logistics, and technology.

We work on some of the continent’s most high-profile projects, including the delivery of major enhancement and maintenance frameworks for Network Rail. We are currently working on some incredibly exciting projects, including our £400 million project to regenerate Waterloo—Europe’s busiest station—over the next three years. We are also delivering major schemes overseas, for example in Morocco, Asia, and throughout Europe.

At Colas Rail we look outwards to our customers, seeing things from their point of view. We respect their views, respond to their suggestions, and are proactive in anticipating their needs. We are also committed to delivering on our promise—to our employees, the people we work with, our customers, and our stakeholders.

DEVELOPING LEADERS OF THE FUTURE

Developing people is key to our operational success at Colas Rail: 25% of our leaders come from our Graduate Schemes, and the Trainee & Apprentice programmes we run are equally important in closing the skills gap facing the industry. We build our own talent and develop them on fast-track schemes, which in turn results in loyal, passionate employees who deliver brilliantly for our contracts. We can demonstrate this approach on our alliance contracts—such as S&C, the Wessex Capacity Alliance, and the Midland Metro Alliance—where it produces fantastic results.

At Colas Rail we are fully committed to bringing more women into the rail industry and actively seek, engage, develop and promote women from all socio and economic backgrounds from engineering, and ex-military to refugees in the hopes of readdressing the balance. The Women in Rail, Big Rail Diversity Challenge provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate our support for promoting diversity within the rail industry and is a key part of our growth strategy within Colas Rail. Events such as this provide invaluable networking opportunities for women in our sector.

Our commitment to equality and diversity within the workplace plays a major role in ensuring we recruit and develop the right people for our business. As a multinational company our people come from all over the world, proactively supporting women in rail creates a workplace culture that celebrates our differences, allows for fresh thinking and new perspectives and enhances the quality of our delivery to all of our customers.
